I’ve loved bicycles ever since I was a child. Inspired by the Tour de France, I took up road racing and spent two seasons in Italy, where I became completely immersed in amateur racing.

Later, while working for an outdoor tour company, I noticed that bamboo was gradually taking over the mountains and forests in the rural areas of japan. I began wondering if there was something I could do to help, and that led me to the idea of building bicycles from bamboo.

As I explored ways to make the most of this remarkable material, I learned about the traditional craftsmanship used to make Japanese bows. Fascinated by the technique, I began applying the same principles to bicycle building. Since then, I’ve been creating bamboo bicycles using this unique traditional approach.
